Perfect for midwestern winters.
I've used this coat through two winters now, and I couldn't be happier with it! The sherpa lining keeps the heat in well and is very comfortable. The hood is sized and shaped well and does a great job keeping the wind and rain out in open farm country. It has plenty of pockets, exactly where you need them. I really like the "tapered" fit, gives you room to move around freely and still keep the cold out. I have a 33" waist, and the Medium is a perfect fit, can even fit a hoodie under it comfortably if needed for extended periods in temps near zero. The light brown color blends in well with tree bark and dead foliage, ideal for the outdoorsman. This is the best coat I've found for outdoor activities in the cold months, I'll be buying another color here shortly. Money well spent!

Fantastic Field Coat
I bought this coat based on owning the previous version called the Rancher coat.(Purchased from Dungarees.net) I figured i should get another one in case it got discontinued.(Hope that does not happen) I wear it all the time except when the temperature drops into the mid or low twenties. The drawstring at the waist keeps the heat in and wind out giving it quite a useful temperature range. My issue is the armhole diameter on the Canyon Coat has been made smaller. (confirmed with Carhartt) I also confirmed there is a 4" difference between medium and large. I am 5'11" 170 lbs with a flat gut, somewhere in that void between medium and large. The large is gigantic on me. The medium is fine except I can feel the coat digging into my armpits slightly.(very uncomfortable and annoying for me) I cannot put a light sweater on under it. I actually had to return it for this reason. While I do not expect Carhartt to change it just for me, they did offer to forward my comments to the design dept. (Hey, you never know!) I am going to try another one as time goes by. (Carhartt, if you are listening: Larger armhole and slightly wider shoulders.) Not all of us"mediums" are little skinny guys. Try-it-before-you buy-it. I will continue to buy from Dungarees.net, The customer service is exceptional. In closing, if you spend a lot of time outdoors you absolutely MUST TRY THIS COAT it's really great.

Great Jacket for about 35-55 degrees
The fuzzy lining makes this a colder weather jacket. Colder is mid thirties up to about 55-60 , "I live in central Texas". So this is a Good December-January jacket for me. I am a big guy, 4X Tall and it fits great. Very comfortable. And looks good too. Hood is huge and sometimes gets in the way driving but I and glad to have it.
