These Carhartt Traditional Fit Jeans have a nice heavyweight fabric and a somewhat slim (but not "skinny") fit. They are not too tight in the areas where it counts (you guys know what I mean), but they are not baggy like "loose" or "relaxed-fit" jeans. If you have a reasonably athletic build, these jeans will fit comfortably and look very good on you! I am 67 years old, but I do work out regularly and I don't like baggy, relaxed-fit jeans .... and these ones are perfect for me.
By the way, although the legs are slightly tapered from the knee, they will still fit over cowboy boots, as long as those boots don't have a large top opening. I have worn them with boots, and they looked just fine. If you are really concerned about your jeans fitting over a pair of boots, Carhartt also offers heavyweight traditional-fit jeans with straight legs (I also have a pair of them - link provided below).

I like the tapered leg, as opposed to the straight leg jean which I find to be more of a boot-cut. Currently own 6 pair.
Reviewer: ribmaster, Location: Greenbrier TN, Occupation: Heavy Equipment Operator Terrible Fit I wore #B180 for many years that had a great fit. No longer make that style. The #B480 is not even close for a replacement they fit below the the waist they are not even compareable
Reviewer: Farmerbrown, Location: Omaha Nebraska, Occupation: construction Returned them! Carhartt products are a sinking ship..The one thing in the last few years or so were the jeans great quality & sizing you could count on.. ..I got four pair & sent them right back last week..They don't fit right anymore. They are not what they used to be made of or something?..The old pairs lasted a year or more of heavy use..Truthfully the sizing was wrong & still wanted them to work, just not worth the chance..
Reviewer: Larry30, Location: Philadelphia, PA, Occupation: Elevator inspector Carhartt needs to go back to the drawing board on this one Since this is a new product I hope it is short lived. The traditional fit it comes in is not even close to the traditional fit of their Denim line. Objections are pocket depth and zipper. The Denim line measures 12 inches from top of waist band to bottom of pocket. Where the Elton line is a full 2 inches less, which for me means my full hand does not fit in it. Kind of like the feeling one gets from being short sheeted. Main objection is how short the zipper length is. Again, it is 2 inches less on the Elton jeans than the Denim. Without going into to much detail, with the zipper not opening lower than the Denim line, it is difficult to use it for one of the functions it was designed for.
