Reviewer: Greg1022, Location: The woods of Missouri, Occupation: Observer very good Everything about this vest is very good. The only negative is that stupid, sticking, scratchy, rough metal zipper. YKK makes excellent, nearly indestructible heavy duty plastic ones in use by the military on packs and stuff. They don't stick or break, and they don't take the hide off your fingers, tear out your nails, and gouge gunstocks like primative metal zippers do.

Back then vests were sold as outerwear; today they are sold as a layering element. As such this fits comfortably snug in my usual size. Other reviews said these ran short causing me to order a tall size which I usually don't. I think that gives me about 2 inches extra that I probably didn't strictly need but that I'm not unhappy about either, although my size is right on the border between regular and tall on the sizing chart. Quality is what I expect from Carhartt. I like the inside pockets, giving this small piece surprising storage capacity. This won't be as warm as the vest it replaces but it looks a lot better and less like a life preserver. I also like the mock neck. It doesn't bother me in normal wear and makes the piece warmer when fully zipped up. I agree with someone else who said it would be nice if the zipper opened from the bottom, although that might be because I'm in a long that I may not need.
