Go to wind and light/moderate rain jacket!
March 22, 2017

From: Age: Gender:
Im 5'10" tall, 44" chest and in good shape. The medium fits well with a shirt and perfect with a sweater. Had to replace my previous after eightvyears of Alaska and Mexico sea adventures! My previous coat lost its waterproof capability i assume from incorrect washing, so read the tag before cleaning! The inly downfall is tge velcro cuffs which are the first wear out, after years though! Carhartt should exoeriment with snap buttons. Also the bungee strap on the waist band likes to wear out over time. It should be replaced with braided/tarred nylon seine twine.

Redesign the Hood
March 16, 2017

From: Colorado Age: Over 65 Gender: Male
I agree with Tom from Oregon. The jacket is ok. The hood is aggravating. It is, indeed, too large. The bill of the hood comes down over my face almost to my nose. The hood is about 1.5 times larger than my head. If you turn your head left or right, I am looking directly into the side of the hood. The hood does not cinch down or tighten in any way. I have to constantly roll back the bill of the hood so I can see, however, with the wind, snow or rain, I get a good face and neck full of nature. Without the hood, I wore a beanie, but now the snow and rain is down my neck even with the neck buttoned and zipped. I needed a rain jacket/hood combination that I could work in for several hours. With the present design, this rain jacket is perfect for bringing groceries out to the car in a light rain with no wind.

Nice coat, hood is aweful & effects usability.
February 10, 2017

From: Bandon, OR Age: 55-64 Gender: Male
The coat itself is great, but I would not buy again because of the hood. I ended up buying an XL because of the oddly short arms of the Large size. This actually made layering more comfortable though. The problem is the hood. Firstly, the hood is very huge. It can cover half my face and my eyes (I'm a normally sized older male adult without a watermelon sized & shaped head). I tried wearing a baseball cap under the hood so the visor would keep it from covering most of my face. But the hood doesn't work well in general because the hood drawstrings do not lock and wind constantly opens the hood. Where other coats have a push-button locking device, this hood has a mysterious button thing with only a hole that the string passes through with no locking action. Constantly have to mess with the hood and the strings when it's windy. Otherwise is a great coat.

Good rain protection. Could be longer
February 2, 2017

From: Ocean Shores, WA Age: 55-64 Gender: Male
Great rain protection. However, I wish someone would make one that goes just below the knee so you don't always have to wear rain pants. Getting past the pockets would even be an improvement. That way wallets and things don't get wet. Rain pants are nice, but hard to get to things you need over and over out of the pockets. Something like an Australian Outback Coat would be a great addition to the lineup. Make sure it is made in the 3XLT size too!

Works fantastic
January 23, 2017

From: Phoenix Arizona Age: 55-65 Gender: Male
Got caught out in a downpour, Jacket repelled water like it was running off Teflon. My coworkers were soaked in their canvas jackets within 5 minutes. would definitely recommend. Seems to be a bit lite on the warmth side but perfect for layering with light thermal clothes and garments. Blocks the wind very well. Planning on getting the matching pants now. One recommendation to improve on. Build in a larger internal zipped vertical pocket with zipper for concealing documents and other items, Put some pockets on the matching pants. This jacket will last me for years working in heavy municipal piping Industry and for hunting.

Shoreline
January 20, 2017

From: Bremerton, WA Age: 45-54 Gender: Female
I love the Shoreline jacket. It's medium weight but I've never been cold in it through Washington winters. For me it has been waterproof and I've used it often in heavy rain. The scalloped sleeves are made to somewhat cover your hands from wind and rain. The drawbacks are that the hood closure is Velcro- I hate Velcro! and that the men's small (smallest size it comes in) was still big on me. I couldn't find women's or "big kid" sizes.
