I can't say enough about this nesting system. When you open it for the first time and you see sitting right beneath the lid a tri-fold cutting board/serving platter, you know this is a company who thinks of everything!
Not to be confused with other Stanley models, this item includes two nested pots with lids and flip down latching handles, the cutting board, two large bowls, two large vented lids for those bowls that double as very small plates, and the most ingenious interlocking ladle and spatula I've ever seen.
The entire setup is incredibly sturdy. There was nothing about any of the components that looked like they could have been better quality or would easily break. Unlike my inexpensive aluminum mess kits, these don't give the impression that they'll scratch or dent easily. The handles are long enough that you can easily cook with this over a propane stove or a campfire and not have to reach practically over the flames to retrieve it.
Like most of the camp cook sets on the market, my only gripe is that there are only two bowls! That's hardly Stanley's fault, but I rarely get to go camping with just one other person. Even with this handy set, I would still need to supplement it with additional bowls and plates. I hope Stanley sells the bowls/plates so that I don't have to worry about which of my kids is going to complain about having the red bowl instead of the green one like his siblings! :)
It is important to note that this item is very sturdy but rather on the heavy side. Someone taking an extended backpacking trip might reconsider some of it. HOWEVER, if two people are going, you can easily split the kit up to save on weight, which would also probably give you enough room on the inside to stow your microstove and fuel. Otherwise, this set is the perfect item for car camping, extended base camping, fishing trips where you reached camp by canoe, and anywhere else where weight was a little less of an issue.
I've never had a Stanley product that a) wasn't worth every penny and b) didn't last longer than any of my other gear. The same people who produced that legendary vacuum thermos have put their know-how into this set, and it shows.
